Another eight-year-old boy had died last Sunday after bitten by a snake which was under his pillow in Thrissur's Kodali last Sunday. His brother was also bitten and is in a critical condition. Aljo, youngest son of Kavungal Siljo and Johnsy from Kadampodu, died. Anoj (10), who is in a critical condition, underwent emergency surgery at the Angamaly Apollo Hospital. Aljo was bitten on his hand and Anoj on his leg. A shankhuvarayan (common krait) was found under the pillow in the room where the children were sleeping. The children fell ill at 2 am on Sunday.

On the previous day, the family had attended a function and consumed food and juice. Following this, the parents initially suspected food poisoning. Later, the children were given cumin water and put to sleep again. At 4 in the morning, Aljo foamed and was immediately admitted to the hospital in Kodali and then to a private hospital in Chalakudy. Examination revealed that he had been bitten by a snake. Signs of a snakebite were also found on his body. Aljo later died. Anoj was then shifted to the Apollo Hospital in Angamaly.
