PALAKKAD; League leadership was adamant that the education department be handed only to a leader who has proved his mettle in handling matters with care and gentleness. No time was wasted searching for the ideal candidate, as everyone knew it should be Advocate N Samsudheen.
Samsudheen, known for handling matters deftly and presenting them with accuracy, is a recipient of the K.K. Nair Memorial Shreshtha Legislative Assembly Social Award for his excellent work in the Assembly.
Samsudheen, who led Mannarkkad for 15 years in both the ruling and opposition parties, became the minister in his fourth victory.
It was almost certain that he would get the education department. Samsudheen, a native of Malappuram, was fielded by the UDF in 2011 to win back the Mannarkkad constituency from the LDF. Since that victory, Mannarkkad has not failed to elect him in every assembly election. Born as the son of N.Muhammad Kutty and V.V.Maryakutty in Paravanna, Malappuram, Samsudheen completed his education at Paravanna Govt. High School, Tirur Thunchan College, Tirurangadi PSMO College, and Kozhikode Govt. Law College.
He held many positions, including MSF State General Secretary, Calicut University UUC four times, student representative in the University Senate in 1991, and Muslim League State General Secretary. He was also a member of the Malappuram District Panchayat.
