No escape from extreme heat in Kerala; temperatures to touch 38 degrees celcius

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The heat will become insufferable in Kerala in the coming days. The Indian Meteorological Department predicted the possibility of rain with thundershowers at isolated places on Friday and Saturday. By Thursday, the temperature is likely to rise to 38 degrees in Palakkad and Kollam districts, 37 degrees in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Kannur districts and 36 degrees in Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram and Kasaragod districts.

A yellow alert was issued in these districts. Following the rise in the UV index, the Disaster Management Authority also issued an orange alert in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Palakkad districts.
