Shanawas, son of Evergreen actor Prem Nazir, passes away

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shanawas, actor and son of evergreen actor Prem Nazir, passed away on Monday. He was 71. Shanawas breathed his last while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Throughout his career, Shanawas appeared in more than 50 films.

Shanawas completed his primary education at Chirayinkeezhu English Medium School, Montfort School, Yercaud and completed his Master's in English Literature from New College, Chennai. He made his film debut with the film 'Prema Geethangal', directed by Balachandra Menon. The much-touted entry of the star kid didn't bode well as the movies Shanawas appeared in lead roles, failed to make an impact on the public. After a long hiatus, he re-entered the film industry with the Malayalam film 'China Town', released in 2011.

Shanawas was settled in Malaysia for a long time. His wife is Ayesha Beevi, the daughter of Prem Nazir's elder sister, Sulaikha Beevi. His children are Shameer Khan and Ajit Khan.
