rain

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As per the latest radar image, there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in Pathanamthitta in the next few hours and strong winds with a speed of up to 50 km per hour. Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam districts are also likely to experience heavy rain.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the possibility of moderate rain at isolated places and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 km per hour in other districts.

Heavy rain will continue in the state till tomorrow and after that the strength will decrease. The rains are due to the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal, the low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea and the increase in the strength of the monsoon. Heavy rain is likely in northern districts. The central and southern districts will receive heavy rainfall.

Westerly winds have reached a speed of 45 to 65 km per hour along the Kerala coast. Southern districts will experience very strong winds in hilly areas.

Orange alert has been issued in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

Yellow alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad
