
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Relief from the intense heat is expected in the coming days as summer rains are likely to become stronger. The rain, which becomes active from today, is expected to intensify by Wednesday. A yellow alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts on Wednesday, and for Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts on Thursday.
Meanwhile, several districts continued to experience extreme heat on Sunday. Palakkad recorded 40.1°C, while Punalur recorded 39.5°C.
Today, temperatures are likely to rise up to 40°C in Palakkad and 39°C in Kollam. Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode may see temperatures up to 38°C. Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod are expected to record up to 37°C, while Thiruvananthapuram may reach up to 36°C. A yellow alert has been issued in these districts due to the high temperatures.
