THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: New update of the much-awaited Thiruvananthapuram-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is out. The proposal submitted to the Railway Board is to run the train via Kottayam. It will start from Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli) and reach Bengaluru SMVT Baiyyappanahalli via Kottayam. The train will depart from Thiruvananthapuram at 7.30 pm and reach Bengaluru after 12 hours. The distance is approximately 842 km.
The fares have been fixed as 3rd AC 2,300, 2nd AC 3,000, and 1st AC 3,600. Currently, the lowest fare for 3rd AC in Vande Bharat Sleeper running on the Guwahati-Howrah route is Rs 960 for 400 km. After this, Rs 2.40 is charged for every km.
The fare for Vande Bharat Sleeper Train tickets is slightly higher than the existing premium trains like the Rajdhani Express. The train timings are very beneficial for IT employees and students as they can travel at night and reach their destination in the morning, with the travel time staying within the 12-hour limit. With the arrival of sleeper coaches, long-distance travel will be more comfortable compared to other Vande Bharat trains. The date of commencement of the service will be announced as soon as the final approval is received from the Railway Board.
