THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan stated that the party holds the absolute authority to determine its leadership and operational strategies, asserting that these decisions are not dictated by the media. In a statement shared on Facebook, Govindan urged the public and party cadres to remain vigilant against fabricated news reports that lack even a shred of reality.

The CPM State Secretary accused sections of the media of circulating completely baseless narratives regarding discussions that allegedly took place during recent high-level party meetings. He flagged specific reports claiming he had stated at a Thiruvananthapuram meeting that "replacing himself and Pinarayi Vijayan was an illusion." Denouncing these claims as outright fabrications, Govindan warned that the party would mount a strong public defence and initiate legal action against those spreading misinformation.

Addressing the party's performance, Govindan noted that the CPM has conducted a thorough and detailed review concerning its recent Assembly election setbacks. He emphasised that the leadership is currently processing feedback and criticisms raised by grassroots party workers, extending right down to the branch-level meetings, to implement necessary course corrections.

"The party possesses the organisational strength to criticise and correct any leader if mistakes are committed. This principle of accountability applies equally to everyone," Govindan affirmed.

In tandem with internal evaluations, the CPM is actively seeking feedback from the general public to better equip itself against contemporary political challenges. The State Secretary revealed that the party has already received tens of thousands of suggestions from citizens, which he viewed as a testament to the public's enduring trust and affection for the CPM.

These public inputs will be factored into the party's future strategy. Govindan announced that a comprehensive action plan will be finalised during the extended State Committee meeting scheduled to take place this August.
