BA Aloor, prominent criminal lawyer who appeared for Govindachamy, dies

KOCHI: Prominent criminal lawyer Biju Antony Aloor, known commonly as BA Aloor passed away on Wednesday. He was undergoing treatment at Lissy Hospital in Ernakulam due to chronic kidney disease.

BA Aloor gained infamy in Kerala over his decision to appear on behalf of Govindachamy, the accused in the Soumya murder case. Throughout his career, Aloor remained an enigma for his aberrant decisions to side up with criminals in cases that have shocked the conscience of the state.

Aloor even appeared for Ameerul Islam, who was accused in the Jisha murder case. Aloor enrolled as a lawyer in 1999 and practised in various courts in Kerala for four years. Fixated over criminal cases, Aloor soon trudged the path and found his niche.
