KOCHI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Kochi destroyed 340.50 kg of drugs worth Rs 500 crore seized in various cases. Drugs were scientifically destroyed on Friday at Kerala Enviro Infrastructure Limited (KEIL), a biomedical waste treatment plant in Ambalamedu. The mission lasted two hours. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and members of the High Level Drug Disposal Committee witnessed the mission online.
337 kg of drugs seized from the Kochi coast and 3.50 kg of hashish oil seized from a courier company in Kochi in 2021 were destroyed while trying to smuggle them on a Sri Lankan boat. The hashish oil was shipped from Bahar to Kochi. As part of the Drug Disposal Day, various investigation teams in the country are destroying the seized drugs. So far 9200 kg of drugs worth Rs 1235 crore have been destroyed. This is the second time that drugs have been destroyed at KEIL.
