NEW DELHI: The police closed all roads to Jantar Mantar in Delhi with barricades following the clash between them and the wrestlers protesting seeking action against Wrestlers Federation chief Brij Bhushan Singh. The police informed media have been denied entry to the protesting site.
Meanwhile, the protests against the action of the police towards the wrestlers are intensifying. The wrestlers had the other day requested all in the country to protest against the violence shown to them and also asked them to reach the site. The protestors demanded to clarify the reason for the police action against them and alleged that the female wrestlers were treated badly.
A clash broke out between the wrestlers and the police at the protesting site when beds were brought for the wrestlers in Jantar Mantar last night. The protestors said the cops beat them up and abused the women wrestlers. Some wrestlers sustained injuries and one has been admitted in the hospital. The wrestlers alleged that the police, who have not taken action against Brij Bhushan Singh, are attacking them. Wrestler Vinesh Phogat said the cops were drunk.
