THRISSUR: While inaugurating the concluding ceremony of the state-level 'pattayam' distribution organized as part of the government's 2nd-anniversary celebrations, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that he is checking whether the unused land held by various departments can be distributed to the landless.
"There are a total of 3.41 lakh landless people in Kerala. 10,500 acres of land would be required to distribute three cents each to them. The government has land for this. Efforts are being made to resolve tribal land issues. By November 2025, Kerala will become a state without extremely poor people. This year, the aim was to distribute 40,000 pattayams. Exceeding the target, 67,609 pattayas were distributed. 2.98 lakh pattayas were distributed during the tenure of this government.", CM Vijayan said.
