KANNUR: Seven persons, including Kannur Corporation Development Standing Committee chairman PK Ragesh, have been expelled from the Congress for allegedly working against the party in the Pallikunnu Service Cooperative Bank election. The Co-operative Democratic Front, which contested against the UDF, had a great win in the bank elections held the other day.
PK Ragesh, who had earlier left the party and became deputy mayor in the corporation with LDF support, returned to the Congress after talks with KPCC president K Sudhakaran. The Cooperative Democratic Front contested under the leadership of PK Ranjith, brother of PK Ragesh. The UDF had alleged that the elections were conducted using fake identity cards with the help of officials and the police.
