Malayali youth, partner held for extorting Rs 65 lakh in name of liquor business

KOLLAM: A Malayali youth and his partner have been held for extorting Rs 65 lakh from a businessman. The two held has been identified as Subeesh (31) of Thrissur and Shilpa Babu (27), a native of Bilekahalli in Hyderabad. The two extorted money from him in the pretext of making him a partner in liquor business.

The two cheated the businessman saying that they have close links with the officials of the central and state governments. The businessman gave money last year. The accused said they would make him a partner in the business of importing liquor and distributing it to various places.

The businessman of Hyderabad lodged the complaint with the police when he did not get the money even after a year. Both were caught from Karunagapally in Kollam. There are cases against them in many stations including Bengaluru.
