THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have arrested two brothers for allegedly attacking and injuring their father with a sharp weapon. The accused have been identified as Shivakumar (29) and Harikrishnan (23), both natives of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu.

According to police, the incident took place in the early hours of June 26. The victim, Murugan (56), who runs a scrap shop in the Vellamkettuvila area under the Naruvamoodu Police Station limits, was allegedly attacked by his wife and two sons following a financial dispute.

Police said the accused fled the scene after the attack. Preliminary investigations suggest that the assault was also triggered by resentment over Murugan's second marriage and a family property dispute. Police have intensified the search for Murugan's wife, Selvi, who is believed to have instigated the attack and is currently absconding. The two accused were arrested after the court rejected their anticipatory bail plea.
