Senior BJP leader P P Mukundan passes away in Kochi

KOCHI: Senior BJP leader P P Mukundan (77) passed away Wednesday morning at 8.10 am. He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi for respiratory problems.

He was the former organizational general secretary of the BJP. He had also worked as an executive member of the party for a long time. He was the managing director of Janmabhoomi from 1988-1995. He stayed away from the party from 2006 to 2016 and returned after so many years.

He was born on December 9 in 1946 to Krishnan Nair and Kalyani Amma in Kolangarayathu tharavadu at Kottiyoor in Kannur. He was attracted to the RSS during his high school days and became a pracharak in Kannur in 1965. He had served as pracharak in Chengannur Taluk and Thrissur.


He was jailed for 21 months during Emergency. He had also worked as regional secretary in Kerala, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar. He was a bachelor.
