KOZHIKODE: Business magnate Boby Chemmanur, who pulled off a marvellous campaign to gather Rs 34 crore for death-sentenced Farook native Abdul Rahim, conducted a press conference in Malappuram on Wednesday. While talking with the press, Boby admitted to having initiated the campaign only after being convinced about the innocence of Abdul Rahim, as he denied rumours of Abdul receiving help only for his Muslim identity.

“People will unite for the right cause, irrespective of whether they are Hindu or Christian. We received huge contributions from the US and Europe. This proves that people would easily give us help if the cause is on the right note.” Boby said.

Meanwhile, Boby had talks with director Blessy to make the historic fundraiser campaign into a major motion movie.

“Blessy gave an affirmative nod. I have a clear preference for the right actor to play my role. It will be a movie that will bring into light the life of Abdul Rahim” Boby said.

Boby Chemmanur said that he is currently mired in work to learn more about the plight of Nimisha Priya, who is currently serving a death sentence in Yemen jail. Boby assured about discussing the matter with other organisations and gave a hint about considering yet another crowd support to bring back another Keralaite from the clutches of death. However, he also warned people to not indulge in fundraisers as an easy way to save guilty people.
