THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains are continuing in Idukki, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts where a red alert was sounded by the India Meteorological Department. The rains that started yesterday in Idukki are still continuing. Mudslides occurred in many places. Transportation was disrupted following mudslide on the Wagamon-Theekoyi Road. Transportation was restored after removing mud. Mudslides occurred in Erattupetta in Kottayam. The water level rose in Pampa. There are heavy rains in Sabarimala also. Authorities have asked to avoid travelling during night time. The shutters of the Pambla dam have been raised. Red alert will continue in Idukki on Saturday also.
The rains that started in northern districts on Thursday is still continuing. Yellow alert was sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod districts. Orange alert has been sounded in Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts.
