CHITTAGONG: South Africa has reached a humungous total in the second cricket test against Bangladesh. Declaring at 575 for six in the first innings, South Africa easily also took the four crucial wickets of Bangladesh. The hosts are 38 for four at the end of the second day.
Besides Tristan Stubbs and Tony De Zorzi, Vianne Mulder scored a century (105*) for the visitors. Senuran Muthuswamy (68*) remained unbeaten.
Bangladesh openers Shadman Islam (0) and Mahmadul Hasan Joy (10) stumbled quickly without making an impact. Hasan Mahmood (3), who came as a night watchman, couldn’t survive the bowling prowess of South Africa.
Mominul Haq (6*) and captain Najmul Hussain Shanto (4*) are now at the crease. Kagiso Rabada took two wickets and Dane Peterson and Keshav Maharaj took one wicket each for South Africa. South Africa resumed the game at the score of 307 for two on the first day and lost the wicket of David Bedingham (59).
Things were going south for the proteas as wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne was dismissed for a duck. The score was 423 when Rickleton (12) was dismissed in the sixth over. Later, Vien Mulder and Senuran Muthuswamy led the team to a huge score with an unbroken partnership of 152 runs.
