Drug trafficking gang including notorious goon arrested while consuming drugs

KAYAMKULAM: A drug trafficking gang, including a notorious goon, were arrested by the police in Kayamkulam. The arrested persons are Kayamkulam Cheravally natives Kannan Raju (26), Suryanarayanan (22), Althaf (25), Ameen (24), Akhil (21) and Shinas (23).

The Kayamkulam police arrested the accused on Thursday while they were using drugs near the house of the second accused Suryanarayanan, a notorious goon. 6 grams of charas were seized from the accused. The police nabbed the accused during an inspection conducted based on a tip-off that they were recruiting several youngsters in regions such as Kayamkulam, Cheravally and Pullikkanakku to their gang by selling them drugs.

Suryanarayanan, who had undergone a heart transplant surgery at the government's expense, was involved in drug sales and goonda activities in the region. Suryanarayanan, Althaf and Ameen are accused in various cases, including a murder case.

The accused were nabbed by a police team comprising Kayamkulam CI Arun Sha, SIs Nizam, Ajith, police officers Sajeev, Akhil Murali, Mohammad Shan, Pradeep, Ratheesh, Vishnu and home guard Ashokan under the supervision of Kayamkulam DySP Babukuttan.
