Security nightmare at Kalamandalam: 22-year-old man spends night in girls' hostel, parents demand answers

CHERUTHURUTHI: A 22-year-old man was arrested by the Cheruthuruthy police for allegedly spending an entire night at the girls' hostel of Kerala Kalamandalam. Police arrested the accused, Mithun Krishnadas (22), of Perayam, in Thiruvananthapuram. He reportedly entered a hostel room on the night of October 30 and was spotted by students the following morning. He fled the premises after being discovered.

The man had allegedly spent the entire night in the room of a second-year degree student. There is also a complaint that he threatened the student. Most of the other students had gone home for the weekend, as Saturday and Sunday were holidays. Six students share each hostel room.

Parents raised serious concerns over the security lapse, questioning how a man could remain inside the girls' hostel for an entire night without the authorities noticing. They demanded strict action against those responsible.

A special police squad led by Sub-Inspector Moitheenkutty arrested the accused on the instructions of Cheruthuruthy Circle Inspector Shyam Kumar. Senior Civil Police Officers Vineeth Mon and Subin were also part of the team. The accused was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
