Airport drama: Woman stages own kidnapping to heist Dubai gold, innocent husband caught in crossfire

MALAPPURAM: The Karipur airport abduction case has taken another turn, with police finding that the woman's husband had no role in the incident. He has been released without being named as an accused after investigators established that he was not involved in the alleged plot to abduct the woman and steal the gold she was carrying.

Priyanka, a native of Kannur, had arrived at Karipur airport from Dubai carrying smuggled gold when a gang abducted her from the airport a few days ago. Suspecting a gold robbery, a police team pursued the car in which she had been taken. The vehicle was intercepted at Pulikkal, where the accused were arrested and Priyanka was rescued. However, questioning Priyanka and the accused revealed that the abduction had been staged.

The plan was to make it appear that Priyanka had been abducted by a gang in a car and that the gold she was carrying had been stolen. Priyanka was also involved in the plan, while her husband was present in the same car. Police initially suspected that Priyanka and her husband had jointly planned the staged abduction. However, detailed questioning revealed that her husband had no involvement in the incident.
