ALAPPUZHA: The CPM district conference action report in Alappuzha was without sharp criticism despite the dismal defeat in the Lok Sabha elections and the existence of sectarian issues. When only the vote leakage in Haripad and Kayamkulam regions was subjected to criticism, the discussion on the report also became just for the sake of it. Yesterday, the first day of the conference was concluded with a round of discussion followed by a group discussion.

In the discussion held in the presence of Pinarayi, most of the representatives spoke in praise of the Chief Minister, the minister from the district Saji Cherian and the government. A member from Kanjikuzhy area asked why the party and the government, which took action against PP Divya for a slip of the tongue, did not take action against central committee member EP Jayarajan, who was ready to meet BJP leader Prakash Javadekar.

Although the party was relegated to the third position in most of the booths in the district in the Lok Sabha elections, no one raised the issue of errors in the election process or leakage of votes. A representative suggested that moves targeting the Chief Minister and his family should be strongly countered. The discussion followed the Chief Minister's criticism that individual-centric sectarianism is present in the party in the district, not ideological issues.
