MUMBAI: A new turning point in the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. Out of the 19 fingerprints collected from the actor's house, none of them matches the accused Shariful Islam Shehzad. The finding was during an examination conducted by the Bureau of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The CID has informed the Mumbai Police that the test results were negative. The police have also sent other samples for further examination.
Saif Ali Khan was attacked on January 15 during an attempted robbery at his Bandra residence. The accused Shariful Islam Shehzad is a Bangladeshi national. The police said that he had come to Mumbai five months ago. He had come to India illegally. He had changed his name to Bijoy Das. He does not have any Indian documents with him. The police had also said that a case has been registered under the Passport Act.
The accused entered the actor's house to commit robbery. The accused knew that there would be heavy security arrangements as it is a celebrity-dominated area. The police had earlier clarified that the accused was working in a housekeeping agency in Mumbai.
The hospital authorities initially said that Saif Ali Khan had suffered six stab wounds. Two of them were deep. One wound was near the spine. The actor underwent a surgery also.
There were controversies after a video of the actor returning home after being discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Bandra went viral on social media. Some social media users expressed doubts about Saif's quick return to normalcy. A section of social media questioned whether Saif was deceiving people by saying that he had undergone major surgery and whether someone who had undergone spinal surgery could walk like this in a matter of days.
