KANNUR: KPCC President K Sudhakaran has challenged those who claim that he has shown a soft approach towards the BJP to clarify what exactly that soft approach is. He stated that he opposes the BJP more than any other political party. He criticized the BJP as a party that rules against democracy and secularism.
"I have never spoken in favour of the BJP. The time when I mentioned that I stood guard at an RSS shakha in Kannur is a different matter. It wasn’t the RSS I was guarding, but it was indeed their shakha. The RSS shakha was functioning in the field near my house. There, many young people and children would gather in the evenings to do exercises. On several occasions, CPM members would come and chase them away. Doesn't everyone have the right to freedom in this country? If CPM members can conduct training, why can’t Congress and BJP also do the same?" Sudhakaran said.
"I was troubled when I saw CPM members beating up those children with sticks, and that’s when I intervened. I told them, 'You go ahead and conduct the shakha, and if they come, my children will look after it.' For two or three weeks, my children stood guard. They also conducted the shakha. This is what happened," said K Sudhakaran.
