KANNUR: MV Jayarajan has been re-elected as the Kannur district secretary of CPM. SFI state president K Anusree, DYFI Kannur district secretary Sarin Sasi, MV Nikesh Kumar and V Kunhikrishnan, among others, have been elected to the district committee. Former Taliparamba MLA James Mathew was not included in the district committee. James Mathew had recused himself from the state committee in the last session.
MV Jayarajan became the district secretary when P Jayarajan resigned in 2019 to contest the Lok Sabha elections. MV Jayarajan became the secretary again in the 2021 district session. Jayarajan, a two-time MLA from Edakkad, was the private secretary to the Chief Minister in the previous government. He has also worked as the chairman of Pariyaram Cooperative Medical College and was the LDF candidate from Kannur in the last Lok Sabha elections. MV Jayarajan is a law graduate and has served as a member of the SFI State Secretariat, DYFI State Secretary, Chairman of the Lottery Agents and Sellers Welfare Fund Board and a member of the Electricity Board. He is the son of the late VK Kumaran and MV Devaki of Mariammar House, Peralassery. Wife: K Leena (Kerala Bank). Children: MV Sanjay, MV Ajay. Daughter-in-laws: Dr Snigdha, and Dr Siva Balakrishnan.
