Heavy rain likely in Kerala for next five days, Yellow alert issued in several districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that heavy rain is likely in Kerala for the next five days. Yellow alerts have been issued in several districts. A yellow alert has been declared in Wayanad and Kannur districts today. The weather department has predicted isolated heavy rainfall in these areas. Heavy rain refers to rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

June 21, 2026: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode

June 22, 2026: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

June 23, 2026: Kannur, Kasaragod

The IMD has also said that isolated parts of Kerala may receive rain with thunderstorms today (June 20, 2026). Strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are also likely in some areas.
