Actress Lakshmi Gopalaswamy said she had no intention of performing motherly duties in real life, though she revealed her liking for enacting such roles on screen. The actress said she respected women who have embraced motherhood in real life.
Lakshmi Gopalaswamy:
“More than taking motherly duties, I believe women become stronger when they attain financial security. Every interview I attended; the anchor would ask about my marriage. Women love to get married and take up motherhood. Giving birth is a noble act. But for me, I don’t have such desires.
While travelling, I often see mothers waiting by the gate of their houses to send off their children to school. The sight itself soothes our minds, and I respect them. Being a mother is not an easy task. We should be meticulous in taking care of our children. I have seen my mother often caught in despondence, thinking about me.
I have no qualms about seeing my relatives and others living a happy family life. I have many friends who are still unmarried. But sometimes, we get the pangs of being alone. I think it is our duty to come out of it.”
