MG Soman is one of the actors who enriched Malayalam cinema through his powerful characters. He shone in villain roles as well as in strong character roles. In a recent interview with Kaumudy Movies, Soman's wife Sujatha shared some memories about her husband.
"I got married when I was fourteen, and my family never told me it was a marriage. At that time, I was in the ninth grade. One day, my family told me not to go to school because my father's friends were visiting. My older brother dressed me in a saree, and my mother asked me to serve tea to the guests. I had no idea what was happening at that moment. I didn’t even look at anyone’s face that day. It wasn’t until a few days later, after overhearing conversations in the house, that I realized I was getting married. Before my marriage, I had never watched a film. The first movie I saw was Ezhu Rathrikal with Somettan. I was 16 when our son was born, and a year and a half later, our daughter came along,” Sujatha recalled.
Actor Soman was 27 years old when he got married. At that time, he was not yet in cinema. He was working in the Air Force. He was already involved in theatre. It was in 1973 that Soman entered the film industry. He played strong characters in films like Lelam, Ulladakkam, Avalude Raavukal, Chithram, and Commissioner. The actor passed away in 1997 at the age of 56.
