RIYADH: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will travel to Saudi Arabia on October 17 for a three-day visit. He will attend the Malayalam Utsavam events in Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah, organised by the Malayalam Mission, an initiative of the Kerala government aimed at promoting and teaching the Malayalam language globally. The event in Dammam will be held on the 17th, while the events in Jeddah and Riyadh will take place on the 18th.

Along with the Chief Minister, Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian and members of the NORKA Director Board will also take part in the events. The Malayalam Mission officials in Saudi Arabia said that a large organising committee has been formed in all three cities to ensure the success of the programs.

Earlier, in October 2023, a regional conference of the Loka Kerala Sabha was planned to be held in Saudi Arabia, but the Chief Minister’s visit had to be cancelled as the central government did not grant permission at that time.
