RIYADH: Air India and Air India Express have extended the temporary suspension of flights to and from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia until October 24, 2026, amid the prevailing security situation in West Asia. In a travel advisory, Air India said the decision was taken in view of the situation in the region. The airlines said they were closely monitoring developments and would keep passengers informed of further updates.
Passengers holding confirmed Air India or Air India Express bookings issued on or before October 15, for travel between October 9 and 25, are eligible for a one-time complimentary date change on their respective airline for travel up to November 10, subject to availability. Passengers whose flights have been cancelled may also opt for a full refund if they do not wish to travel.
Eligible passengers may also rebook from alternative stations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region served by their respective airline, subject to availability. Air India passengers can rebook to or from Dubai and Doha, while Air India Express passengers can choose from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, Salalah and Sharjah. Passengers opting for alternative departure points must make their own travel arrangements and comply with applicable visa and entry requirements.
IndiGo has also suspended flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until October 24. Akasa Air, meanwhile, has suspended services to and from Riyadh until October 24 and Jeddah until October 21.
The disruptions follow attacks attributed to Yemen's Houthi rebels on Saudi infrastructure, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Airlines are continuing to assess the evolving security situation before resuming normal operations.
