NEW DELHI: The killers of Gandhi themselves are trying to make him their own, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. They are trying to interpret Gandhiji's statements in favour of them. In this context, the significance of this year's Gandhi Jayanti celebrations is growing, he said in a Facebook post. On this day, every Indian should pledge to uphold the ideals of the Father of our Nation, he said.

It is the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation. A leader who made his own life a message to the world. The values promoted by Gandhiji remain glossy even after a century. Every step of Gandhiji was to uphold the vision to see all sections of the people as one. But today some are trying to take the country back from Gandhi. The assassins of Gandhi are trying to make Gandhi their own. They are trying to interpret Gandhiji's statements in favour of them. In this context, the significance of this year's Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations is growing. Every Indian should pledge to uphold the ideals of the Father of the Nation on this day, he said.
