
ALAPPUZHA: All the accused in the murder case of Vishal, an ABVP activist in Chengannur, have been acquitted. The Mavelikkara Additional Sessions Court delivered the verdict. The court delivered the verdict in a single line that all the accused have been acquitted. The court pointed that the prosecution was not able to prove the crime.
20 people who were Campus Front activists are the accused in the case. The verdict was delivered 13 years after the murder was committed. Vishal, a first-year undergraduate student of Konni NSS College, was stabbed on July 16, 2012. Vishal, who was seriously injured, died the next day.
19-year-old Vishal was an active ABVP activist in Chengannur. As part of his organizational activities, he was attacked by Campus Front activists when he came for the programme at a Christian college organized by ABVP to welcome freshers. The case, which was initially investigated by the local police, was handed over to the state crime branch following a complaint that the arrest of the accused was being delayed. 20 people, including a minor, were arrested in the case.
