Sivasankar is lying continuously, he acted ill and got admitted in hospital where his doctor wife is working, says customs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The customs informed the court that Sivasankar is not saying the truth during interrogation in the gold smuggling case. He is continuously lying to most of the questions. Sivasankar had told them that he has only one phone. However, his wife had handed over two more of his phones. The customs while opposing his bail plea in the special court in Kochi considering economic offences said his foreign connections need to be probed.

The customs told the court that when they tried to arrest him earlier in the smuggling case, he acted ill and got admitted in the hospital where his doctor wife is working.

The customs is recording the secret statement of Swapna and Sarith in the customs case related to gold smuggling.

Preliminary statement was taken last evening under Section 164 in code of criminal procedure. The court action was following the accused request to give a secret statement. The secret statement of the two were recorded soon after the customs court in Kochi mentioned that they were shocked seeing the names of big sharks in the gold smuggling case.
