Party must learn from defeat, will not contest again without resolving issues, says Padmaja Venugopal

THRISSUR: Padmaja Venugopal, the Congress candidate from Thrissur constituency said the Congress should learn lessons from the defeat. She also said that she will not contest again without resolving issues. She said that she will live among the people till her death.

‘I don’t consider this as a failure because the loss was for very small votes. The party has to find out the reasons for the defeat and not us. We have done the work we need to do. Party workers stood with us. It would be good for the party to retrospect about the loss. The loss is not only for me, overall it was a terrible defeat. If the party has not yet learned why, it will be difficult to move forward. There have been vote leaks in some places. The party should find out where it has gone,” said Padmaja.

P Balachandran of the LDF won after a strong triangular battle in Thrissur constituency. Suresh Gopi was the NDA candidate. Suresh Gopi was ahead in the first hours of counting. Padmaja was ahead in postal votes.
