ALAPPUZHA: CPM veteran leader G Sudhakaran has informed that he will not be able to attend the 23rd CPM party congress in Kannur. Sudhakaran has written a letter to the district secretary citing health issues as the reasons for staying away from the party congress this time. In his letter, Sudhakaran suggested the name of Alappuzha district secretariat member A Mahendran to attend the party congress.

G Sudhakaran, one of the senior leaders in the state, was excluded from the party's state committee during the recent CPM state conference. He had written a letter to the party leadership asking them to exclude him from the state committee. Subsequently, with the acceptance of the CPM's general position on the age limit, all senior leaders above the age of 75, except Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, were removed from the state committee.
