ALAPPUZHA: CPM leader G Sudhakaran has said he secured jobs under the Cooperative Department for the wives of CPM leaders H Salam and P P Chitharanjan. Sudhakaran was speaking while inaugurating the Onam celebrations organised by the Ambalappuzha Town Residents’ Association.

“I have no intention of speaking in the same language as those who have spoken against me,” Sudhakaran said. He said the wife of the person who had spoken against him was without a job at the time. “I was the one who secured her a job in the Coir Welfare Fund,” he said. According to Sudhakaran, 19 vacancies had arisen at the time, and the first appointment went to her.

Sudhakaran also said Chitharanjan’s wife was given a job at a hospital. “I have secured jobs for many people like this. I have not secured a job for even one person from my own family,” Sudhakaran said. Sudhakaran was responding to allegations recently raised against him by H Salam over his alleged accumulation of wealth. Salam had alleged that Sudhakaran had amassed wealth illegally. He had also demanded that details of Sudhakaran’s assets be made public.
