KOZHIKODE: Reports indicate widespread criticism against the CPM state leadership in the report presented at the extended state committee meeting presently being held in Kozhikode. The report says that the party’s failure to effectively counter the allegation of a CPM-BJP deal led to its defeat in the assembly elections.

The Congress alleged that there was a deal between the CPM and the BJP, while the Muslim League and Jamaat-e-Islami also carried out similar campaigns. A section of the Christian minority was influenced by this and turned against the LDF. The report also states that false propaganda was carried out using the SIR, among other means.

A message from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was read out at the Global Ayyappa Sangamam, creating an impression that the CPM was taking a soft approach towards Hindu communalism. Questions were also raised about how the party had allowed this to happen.

When the PM SHRI agreement was signed, even the CPI was not taken into confidence. This strengthened the campaign that there was an understanding between the BJP and the CPM.

The BJP’s victory in three seats cannot be dismissed as insignificant. The report also states that none of the decisions taken at the previous party conference to counter the RSS and BJP were implemented. The report says that during the previous election, the party received votes from sections ranging from students and agricultural workers to the grassroots sections of society.
