THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: This year also Medical Council denied permission to admit students in Idukki Government Medical College.
The permission was not given after it became clear in the inspection that the college lacked basic facilities.
The council has asked the government representatives appear before it in person on Friday, if it has any explanation to be given.
The representative appointed by the Medical Education Director will appear in person and give the explanation.
The government explanation is that the Council will convinced about the projects implemented in the hospital and sanction will be taken.
Though teachers from other Medical Colleges were shifted to Idukki College before the inspection of the Medical Council, it had found many deficiencies including shortage of teachers.
The permission was denied, citing the shortage of resident doctors/nurses, lack of wards/internet, computer facilities, absence of separate quarters for teaching and non-teaching staffs and shortage of hospital beds.
