KOZHIKODE: CPM General Secretary M.A. Baby cited fake news and fabricated stories targeting CPM as one among the many reasons for the election drubbing. While inaugurating the public meeting marking the conclusion of the CPM's extended state committee meeting in Kozhikode, he alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) resurfaced in a new guise to spread such false narratives. At the same time, Baby openly acknowledged the severe defeats and setbacks the party suffered in all elections held since 2023.
In his speech, MA Baby explained that extreme right-wing communal integration took place in Kerala and cited it as the main factor behind the defeat. Baby openly accepted all the failures. He described the achievements of the Left governments, including the elimination of extreme poverty by the Pinarayi government, and accused those behind spreading fake news of hiding these details and spreading false propaganda against the Left Front.
“There was fake news regarding RSS-CPM bonhomie. Extreme right-wing polarisation also happened in the state. Be it the Enforcement Directorate (ED) action against Pinarayi Vijayan, Veena Vijayan, and Mohammed Riyas or the fake news spreading on social media, CPM will overcome all crises and will return soon with double the vigour and strength,” said MA Baby.
