KOTTAYAM: Police registered a case of unnatural death following the suicide of YouTuber Thamburu (36), a native of Kattikkunnu Thuruth in Chembu. Thamburu was found hanging in her rented home in Pulinchuvadu, Vaikom on Monday. Although a police investigation is underway, no one has been named as an accused so far.

A note recovered from the young woman's phone indicates that, alongside personal issues, she had been facing threats from a young man from Palakkad regarding certain video footage featuring her.

Thamburu, who lived in a rented house with her daughter after separating from her husband, had gained significant popularity through her YouTube channel, 'Fisheries Queen,' which showcased traditional fishing methods. She commanded a large fan base across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

Her 13-year-old daughter, a ninth-grade student at a school in Vaikom, discovered Thamburu dead when she returned home from school on Monday evening. Following the post-mortem examination, her mortal remains were brought to her ancestral home in Kattikunnu on Tuesday, where the funeral rites were performed. The police said the investigation is proceeding by examining the post-mortem report and focusing on her mobile phone.
