THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran has come up with a warning against sectarian activities in the party. There is no place for sectarianism and individual-centred approach in CPI. Kanam stated in an article written in the party magazine that those who act like that will not have a place in the party. Kanam's warning comes against the backdrop of heightened sectarianism in the party.

'The party has not shied away in putting its views and proposals before the front. The issues to be raised will be precisely stated at the front. The party had even made public responses at times. CPI does not have the style of dragging opinions to the streets. The party cannot break the trust of the front by always giving news to the media. The media propaganda that there is groupism in the party is wrong,' Kanam wrote.

Meanwhile, senior leaders KE Ismail and C Divakaran boycotted a party ceremony held at Neyyattinkara. KE Ismail was supposed to hand over the flagpole to the march captain during the ceremony. In the absence of Ismail, minister GR Anil handed over the flagpole.
