NAGOYA: No gold came India’s way on Thursday, but two Malayalees made the country proud by clinching a silver medal in a battle against the waves. The duo comprising Manu Francis and Prince Noble Kurishingal, both natives of Ernakulam, secured the silver in the men's sailing skiff event.

Cousins ​​and friends Manu and Prince achieved this feat by delivering an impressive performance across nine races held over the past few days, finishing with a net score of 23 points. Nitesh Siwach also won a silver medal in the men's 97kg Greco-Roman wrestling category. He was defeated by Japan's Yuri Nakasato in the final.

Ganesh Maniratnam (men's compound individual archery), the men's and women's squash teams, and the women's skiff sailing team won bronze medals.

Indian teams advanced to the finals after defeating Sri Lanka in the men's cricket semi-final and Pakistan in the hockey semi-final.
