ALASKA: Eight people were killed after a charter plane crashed in western Alaska. According to Clint Johnson, head of the National Transportation Safety Board's Alaska region, the aircraft was carrying two pilots and six passengers.
Soon after the crash, officials said there was no immediate information about those on board. However, local media later reported that all eight people involved in the accident had died.
The crash occurred on Thursday afternoon while the aircraft was travelling to Cape Newenham. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
This is the second aircraft-related accident reported in Alaska in the past two months. In June, four people were injured when a US Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crashed near Mount Harbor in Sitka. The helicopter was on a routine military training flight at the time of the accident.
