WASHINGTON: The United States ended the peace deal with Iran after US President Donald Trump termed it pointless to engage in a deal with a country that cannot be trusted. Along with announcing the withdrawal of the ceasefire agreement, the United States confirmed attacking 80 Iranian targets in response to the attack on ships in Hormuz. Trump made the new statement after the attacks on the port cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik and the island of Qeshm.
Trump also said that Iran had attacked 85 US facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait. The US also revoked the waivers on Iran's oil sanctions that were part of the peace deal. Trump's new statement signals a return of unrest in the Middle East yet again.
Trump accused Iran of being sick, of being cruel and taking pride in violence. Trump said that Iran would have used nuclear weapons long ago if they found a way to acquire them. Trump's response came during a two-day NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey. Trump added that US representatives could continue talks, but were sceptical about the outcome. "They can talk, but I think they're wasting their time," he said.
