TEHRAN: An oil tanker carrying Indian sailors in the Strait of Hormuz was attacked. Reports say the Panama-flagged crude oil tanker named 'MT Louis 1', carrying 27 Indian crew members, was attacked. A group that arrived in a small boat attached two limpet mines (a type of naval explosive device attached using magnets) to the body of the ship.

Following this, a fire broke out in the ship's engine room, temporarily halting its operations. A major disaster was averted as the crew members extinguished the fire immediately. Authorities informed that there was no environmental pollution or oil spill, and the ship has resumed its journey. The British maritime agency UKMTO informed that the incident happened 46 kilometers northeast of Khasab on the Oman coast.

There was a missile attack against the giant oil tanker 'MT Arsana', which was traveling with two Indian crew members on board on Thursday. Following the outbreak of conflict between the US and Iran in February, international vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz have been under constant attack. This marks the first time that an attack utilizing limpet mines has been successfully executed. Iran is targeting ships in this region, alleging that they violated its regulations in the strait.

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, informed that all Indian sailors on board the attacked vessels are safe and no one has been injured.
