ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's aviation authorities have confirmed that a Pakistani cargo plane from Sharjah to Karachi has gone missing. The plane, carrying five crew members, disappeared from radar after it reported a malfunction in its navigation system. The K2 Airways Boeing 737 went missing yesterday. It is believed that the plane may have crashed in the Arabian Sea southwest of Karachi.

Pakistani authorities said that various agencies are searching the sea to find the plane. But nothing has been found so far. Pakistani news channels reported that the plane went missing over the Arabian Sea near Ormara in Pakistan's Balochistan province.

Aviation expert Imran Aslam told the media that the reason for the plane's disappearance from radar is not clear. He added that even if an aircraft has an engine failure, it will slide down instead of falling suddenly.

However, Imran said he did not understand how the K2 Airways plane suddenly fell down. Pakistan has deployed military, civilian authorities, air and naval forces to search for the plane. The Pakistani warship PNS Zulfikar has been sent to the area of the sea where the plane went missing.
