'Who was Anupama afraid of then? Dhruv's mother is a psychologist, she may try to help her son'

Actress Anupama Parameswaran's recent revelations about her personal life have sparked widespread discussion on social media. The actress spoke about a past relationship and described what she said were narcissistic traits displayed by her former partner. However, she did not reveal his name or provide details that could identify him.

Rumours linking Anupama with Tamil actor Dhruv Vikram had circulated widely in the past. Following her remarks, some social media users speculated that she was referring to Dhruv. However, Anupama has not named Dhruv or publicly confirmed that her comments were about him.

Filmmaker Alleppey Ashraf has now commented on the issue in a video on his YouTube channel, Alleppey Ashraf Kandathum Kettathum.

“Let us look at the painful experiences shared by actress Anupama Parameswaran and the personality traits that are being discussed in connection with Dhruv Vikram,” Ashraf said.

He said Anupama had spoken about the difficulties she faced in a relationship without naming her former partner.

“Usually, women speak more openly about a partner's bad behaviour or cruelty after a marriage ends. But here, Anupama Parameswaran has come forward with painful accounts of the hardships she says she experienced at the hands of her partner while they were in a relationship and living together, without being married,” he said.

Ashraf went on to discuss Anupama's acting career and the speculation surrounding her reported relationship with Dhruv. Anupama made her acting debut in Alphonse Puthren's Malayalam film Premam and later gained popularity in Tamil and Telugu cinema. She and Dhruv Vikram worked together in Bison, directed by Mari Selvaraj.

According to Ashraf, the two reportedly grew close while working on the film, and rumours about their relationship later became a subject of public discussion.

“Pictures of the two together had also circulated on social media. They appeared to be a well-matched couple. But appearances do not always reveal what a person may be going through,” he said.

Referring to Anupama's recent remarks about the emotional distress she said she suffered, Ashraf added: “When she says that she cried so much that she eventually needed surgery to correct a problem with her tear gland, one can understand the depth of the pain she says she went through.”

Ashraf also referred to Anupama's comments about alleged “narcissistic behaviour” in her former partner. However, he presented no independent evidence to establish that Dhruv Vikram was the person Anupama was referring to.

“Anupama has spoken about narcissistic behaviour in her former partner. She also said that his behaviour could change dramatically, comparing it to the character in Anniyan. She reportedly remarked that had the relationship ended in marriage, a ‘Rest in Peace’ sign might have been needed on her grave,” Ashraf said.

He also spoke about Dhruv's family, including his mother Shailaja, whom he described as a psychologist. Ashraf further referred to speculation aired by some Tamil channels about why Anupama had not spoken publicly about the matter earlier.

“Shailaja and Vikram had a love marriage. Besides Dhruv, they also have a daughter. Their daughter, Akshita, is married to the grandson of Karunanidhi's eldest son, Muthu. Through this connection, the family gained significant political influence. According to reports aired by some Tamil channels, Anupama had remained silent about the matter because she allegedly feared the DMK. It is unclear how much truth there is in these claims. Anupama's revelation also serves as a warning to young women who find themselves trapped in such relationships,” he said.

Ashraf added that narcissistic personality disorder should not be casually attributed to someone without a proper professional diagnosis.

“Narcissistic personality disorder cannot simply be identified by anyone. It requires professional assessment. Modern medicine provides ways to manage and treat mental health conditions. Dhruv's mother is a psychologist. If these allegations are true, one can hope that she would not simply dismiss them and would instead try to help her son through counselling and professional treatment,” he added.

Anupama, meanwhile, has not publicly named her former partner, and there is no confirmation from her that her comments were directed at Dhruv Vikram.
