Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi claiming back his stardom in 2026 came out of the syllabus. Awarapan 2, the sequel to the 2007 cult movie, is making waves at the box office, already crossing Rs 70 crore in two days.
Producer Vishesh Bhatt revealed the struggles the movie went through in the distribution phase. In an interview to ZOOM TV, Bhatt said no distributors came forward to take up the movie due to the lack of any star actor. Bhatt said the movie was not made with the intention of making quick profit.
Awarapan 2 is rated as Hashmi’s best-ever opening, with the movie amassing Rs 22 crore on day one.
Awarapan tells the story of Shivam Pandit, who survives six bullets and goes undercover after covertly entering a gang. The movie also stars Shabana Azmi, Disha Patani and Suvinder Vicky. Even amidst a stack of movies in Kerala during the Onam season, Hashmi’s Awarapan continues to run in packed houses in the state, with the weekend registering decent bookings.
