Dulquer Salmaan is not leaving anything to luck. After a frustrating technical delay kept fans waiting on his birthday on July 28, the actor finally dropped the much-anticipated trailer of his pan-India action thriller I’m Game. Directed by Nahas Hidayath of RDX fame, the nearly three-minute preview comes loaded with slick action, brutal confrontations, high-stakes gambling and a hero who believes every outcome can be calculated.

And if the trailer is any indication, I’m Game is ready to play a very dangerous game.

Math, mind games and mayhem

Dulquer plays Dan John, a high-stakes gambler caught in the murky world of sports betting, where powerful businessmen, politicians and bookmakers operate behind the scenes. But Dan is no ordinary gambler. He has little faith in luck, instead relying on algorithms, patterns and probability to predict outcomes.

The trailer opens on an ominous philosophical note, comparing human life to a game played by God and the Devil, before rapidly shifting gears into stylish chase sequences, bloody brawls and a revenge-driven story.

Dan's swagger is unmistakable as he introduces himself with the line, “I’m luck’s worst habit.” Beneath the confidence, however, the trailer hints at a darker personal history and a price that Dan may have to pay for the game he has chosen to play.

The preview saves one of its creepiest moments for the end, with Mysskin’s antagonist delivering an unsettling question: “Are you feeling sleepy?”

Loaded cast

Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead, while Mysskin and Samyuktha Viswanathan appear in pivotal roles. Antony Varghese, meanwhile, remains something of a wild card, with the nature of his character being kept firmly under wraps.

The film is directed by Nahas Hidayath and produced by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films along with Jom Varghese. Jakes Bejoy provides the background score, while the cinematography embraces a sleek, international visual style that complements the film’s high-octane action.

Birthday delay — and a little trolling

The trailer launch itself became part of the pre-release buzz. A technical glitch delayed the scheduled release on July 28, leaving fans waiting for Dulquer’s birthday treat.

Dulquer appeared to take the delay in good humour, cheekily calling out co-producer Jom Varghese on Instagram with the now-viral line: “Birthday wishes are fine, Jom, but where’s the trailer?”

Once the technical issue was sorted, the trailer finally landed, setting off a wave of reactions online.

The Telugu version received an added boost from Jr NTR, who launched the trailer and backed it with an enthusiastic message on social media.

“Loved the fiery vibe of the #ImGame Trailer... Gripping and engaging throughout.. I’m sure my brother @dulQuer has something special on his hands yet again. Hope this bet pays off!”

With its blend of gambling, algorithms, revenge and hard-hitting action, I’m Game appears to be betting on a distinctly different kind of action hero.

The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 20, 2026, in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Kannada, arriving during the Onam festival season.
